Why choose aluminium bifold doors?
Aluminium bifolds have become the most popular way to open up a home over the last decade — and for good reason. Compared to uPVC bifolds, the aluminium frame is significantly stronger, which means slimmer sightlines (more glass, more light) and longer spans without sagging. Compared to timber bifolds, aluminium needs almost no maintenance — no sanding, no repainting, no warping in the British weather.
For a typical extension, kitchen conversion, or garden-facing renovation, aluminium hits the sweet spot: premium look, low upkeep, and a thermal performance that meets modern building regulations.

When you might want sliding doors instead
If you have a very wide opening (over 6m) or want completely uninterrupted glass when the doors are closed, sliding doors may suit better. Sliding doors stack rather than fold, so they keep glass coverage even when open but don't give you the full open-plan effect bifolds do.

Size
Standard sizes from 2.1m × 2.1m up to 6m × 2.1m wide. Bespoke sizes available on request — contact us for a quote.
Number of doors
3-door configurations for openings up to 3m wide, 4-door up to 4m, 5-door up to 4.8m, and 6-door for 6m openings. The configuration determines how the doors stack when open.
Colour
Seven options including Anthracite Grey (our bestseller), Agate Grey, Black, White, and dual colour finishes (e.g. Black externally, White internally) at no extra cost.
Opening direction
Open in or open out — both are available at no additional cost. Most customers choose open-out to maximise the internal floor space when the doors are folded.
Door configuration
All doors opening to the right, all to the left, or a "traffic door" configuration with one door that operates independently — useful if you want a quick everyday entry without folding the whole set.
Threshold
Choose between our integrated cill threshold (51.5mm upstand, suitable for open-out doors) or a standard threshold that sits on top of your cill.
Handle finish
Black, White, Anthracite Grey, Graphite, Chrome, or Gold.
Installation kit (optional)
Adds screws, drill bits, silicone, and packers — everything you need for a smooth installation by a competent tradesperson or experienced DIYer.

The 1.4 W/m²K U-value is well within Building Regulations Part L requirements and means heat loss through your bifolds will be a fraction of what you'd see with older patio or French doors.

We're not a retailer, a reseller, or a middleman. We manufacture every Supafold bifold door at our factory on Boardman Industrial Estate in Derbyshire.
That matters for three reasons. First, you're buying at manufacturer price — not retailer markup. Second, your doors are made to order in Britain, not imported and held in a warehouse, which means your specification is exactly what you asked for. Third, if anything ever needs attention, you're talking to the people who built it.
Delivery and installation
Delivery. We deliver to most mainland UK postcodes within 3–4 weeks of order confirmation. Once your doors are despatched from our factory, most customers receive them within 3 working days (5 in outlying areas). Our delivery team will contact you directly with a delivery slot, usually by text.
Installation. Supaglazing Online doesn't offer an installation service — but every door is designed to be fitted by a local tradesperson or competent DIYer. Doors arrive pre-assembled and pre-glazed, with frames clearly labelled, hardware pre-fitted, and comprehensive instructions included. Most experienced fitters complete an installation in a single day. If you don't have a fitter, ask in your local building or trade Facebook group — most areas have several who fit bifolds regularly.
Our most popular option is a one-piece cill and threshold combination with a total upstand of 51.5mm — the standard for open-out aluminium bifolds. Lower threshold options for wheelchair access or flush internal flooring are available on request. Detailed frame section drawings can be found on the Downloads page.
Our delivery times vary depending on the time of year and demand each product listing will tell you the current lead time for your order. Once we despatch your doors most of our customers will receive them in 3 working days if you are in an outlying area it will be 5 working days. You'll get an email when our Delivery team are notified of goods being ready for delivery they will contact you direct usually by text with a delivery slot to let you know when the doors will arrive.
The Supafold bifold door frame is 70mm deep. This depth allows for the thermal break the double-glazed unit and the multi-point locking mechanism without compromising the slim 122mm sightline.
Every Supafold bifold door is supplied with 28mm double-glazed sealed units featuring Planitherm low-E coated glass and argon gas fill. The outer pane is toughened safety glass that meets BSEN12150 standards and the inner pane is laminated for additional security.
Yes. Every Supafold bifold door is manufactured at our Derbyshire factory. Doors are made to your specific size and finish — not pulled from warehouse stock — and dispatched directly from the factory to you.
Standard colour options include Anthracite Grey (our bestseller) Agate Grey Black White and dual colour finishes — where you can have a different colour inside vs outside at no extra cost. Bespoke RAL-matched colours are available on request.
Yes. Supafold bifold doors are tested to BS6375 Part 1:2009 for weather performance which covers wind rain and air permeability. All seals and gaskets come pre-fitted and the one-piece track-and-cill design eliminates the gaps where water typically gets in on lower-quality units.
Yes — we deliver to mainland UK postcodes. Most areas receive doors within 3 working days of dispatch from our Derbyshire factory; outlying areas (Highlands far South West) take up to 5 working days. Please contact us for delivery to Northern Ireland or offshore.
Any competent local glazier joiner or builder with bifold experience can install a Supafold set. Local tradesperson directories like Checkatrade Rated People and TrustATrader are good starting points — search for "bifold door installer" in your area. Many of our customers find that the builder doing their wider extension work is happy to fit the doors as part of the project.
A structurally sound and square opening of the correct size suitable for the door's weight (we'll provide load specifications). Most installs also need silicone screws packers and shims. We offer an optional installation kit at checkout that includes the consumables — useful if your fitter doesn't bring their own.
